Retatrutide and liraglutide are different molecules, even when both appear in discussions about weight-management injections. For someone browsing pens in Bali, the useful first comparison is what the name identifies. The shape of a device does not tell you which receptors its contents target or which clinical trial applies.
What the two names describe
Retatrutide combines activity at GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. Liraglutide acts at the GLP-1 receptor. That distinction explains why they belong in different research descriptions; it does not supply a conversion between them. More receptor targets are not a personal forecast of greater benefit.
The 2023 retatrutide phase 2 trial studied once-weekly administration over 48 weeks. The 2015 liraglutide weight-management trial followed participants for 56 weeks using daily administration. Those schedules describe those studies. They are not instructions for using a product found on a local catalogue.
Read a listing in three layers
| Layer | What it can establish | What it cannot establish |
|---|---|---|
| Compound name | Which molecule is listed | Equivalence to another molecule |
| Device or package | The advertised physical format | Identity with a trial preparation |
| Published study | Population and measured outcomes | Your response to a retail pen |
A quantity printed on packaging and a research administration schedule answer separate questions. Neither should be used to calculate a switch. Likewise, an attractive photograph cannot establish the formulation, manufacturing evidence or clinical suitability of its contents.
A useful Bali shopping note
Before discussing a listing with a clinician, save the exact product name and format rather than a cropped image of a pen alone. Keep any existing prescription information separate from marketing comparisons. This makes it easier to identify an actual discrepancy without turning a comparison article into a personal treatment plan.
The retatrutide listing describes the catalogue entry; the shop shows the other listed formats. A product page and a trial paper have different jobs, and reading both does not make their preparations interchangeable.
FAQ: Common questions
Does a pen mean the same medicine?
No. A pen is a delivery format; the compound and formulation still matter.
Can weekly and daily schedules be converted?
Not from these two studies. They did not test a switching rule.
Which study should I save?
Save the one about the exact compound, together with its year, population and follow-up length. Keep the second paper only as a comparison with those differences visible.
